Topic: Fireface 800 windows 10 weird bleepy noise

So drivers installed perfectly and i have acces to the mixer. However trying to play sound from youtube or foobar creates a very strange glitchy bleep sort of noise, and allso messes up the playback in the respective players. youtube sort of wont really play, and foobar has no cursor movement and db meter doesnt respond. If i enter FF800 settings and mess about with the samplerate the sound will will pitch up or down accordingly.

Have connected with firewire 400 cable from my old presonus interface and not the 800 cable that the fireface had. Dont have a 800 pcie card right now.

Have seen no posts about this particular glitch, so posting this for documentation. I mean to aquire an fw 800 pcie, so will update when i reach that point in the troubleshooting process.

In the meantime; anybody able to provide some insight or help?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Fireface 800 windows 10 weird bleepy noise

Managed to get sound from windows by limiting bandwith to analog 1-8 and changing my FW driver to legacy. VU meters in total mix are very laggy and sometimes i get buffer error glitches in the sound.

System specs:

Skylake Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Asus z170 progaming
GTX 970 GPU
FW PCI TI XIO2200(A) IEE-1394a-2000 (PHY/Link)

Will a different TI Chipset get full functionality? If so, which?

What chipset is best for FF800 on modern Asus boards?

Edit: Doh, recomendations further down in that thread you linked. Thank you. Will update here for posterity when i test with new FW PCI-E.
