Topic: How do I control Main outs via UCX front panel? What inputs for synth?

Hey All, I just got a UCX to replace my MOTU.

The first problem I'm having difficulty figuring out is how I can control my Main outs via the front knob.
I can control the Phones, but id like to be able to have control over both the phones volume, and the main outs - without opening up totalmix, so i dont always have to turn on my computer if i want to switch between using headphones or my main monitors.

Can anyone help me with this? It must be possible, thanks in advance!

Hard to be specific if you don't say which channel is Main out.

You can push the knob to change to CHannel select mode, then turn to select the output. L1 is line out 1/2, L3 is line out 3/4 etc. Then once you have the correct channel selected, push the knob to switch back to LEVel control mode.

Thanks for the response i appreciate it, my monitors are outputs 1/2.
I'm pretty sure I tried going to channel 1 and adjusting the knob and it had no effect.. not sure what I'm missing. Ill try again when I get home.

Another noob question, what setting should i use on my UCX inputs using synthesizers?
-10, +4, or Low Gain?

does input 3/4 work the same?

1. Whatever works and doesn't overload the input!

2. Yes, with additional settings as described in the manual.

Depends on the outputs of your synth.

Example:
My kurzweil has balanced outs and work well with line inputs, nord keyboards is unbalanced but still works well with the line ins set to low gain.
Analog synths could work better with hiZ front inputs, just try.
