Topic: [SOLVED] High harmonics artifacts when using ADAT2 as audio input
Hi,
I am connecting the SPDIF output of my video game console in order to re-route it to the ADAT2 of my Fireface 800.
In the Fireface settings SPDIF Input is set to ADAT2 (TMS is enabled whatever this is).
I've managed to listen to the signal in Cubase but I hear very unpleasant artifacts in the high harmonics.
I've recorded the difference between the audio signal received from ADAT2 vs AN1/2 here https://soundcloud.com/edgar-phoete/ps4/s-c3Vpa
Would anybody know why this occurs and how to fix it?
Hint: I'm using a HDMI extractor to do. Since the console is the only device that I can try an optical source with I cannot guarantee that this extractor might not be the culprit in the chain but first I'd like to raise the question on this forum before purchasing another one.
