Topic: Problems with Word Clock to RME

I am providing a 48 KHz Clock from an Audio system to FF to the Word Clock (BNC).

The RME displays word clock Lock.

However if I do a very long recording, I can observe the clock drifting between the master audio system and the RME.

The master audio system is known to have some clock jitter issues. However should the RME not stay in sync with the master regardless of the poor clock quality being fed?

I would appreciate any inputs on this.

Thank you.

LOCK is wrong - it must show SYNC. The FF is using a different clock source - check your settings.

Hi Matthias,

It is showing Sync. Sorry I typed wrongly.

Could it be anything to do with the steady_clock?

Re: Problems with Word Clock to RME

What do you mean with "observe the clocks drifting"?

Re: Problems with Word Clock to RME

It seems that the clock on the RME does not exactly match the clock from the master system

Re: Problems with Word Clock to RME

That is normal and not the case the moment you SYNC to the incoming clock. Then it uses the external clock, not the internal one.
