Topic: Fireface 400, PC & Ableton 10 - crackles and latency quiz

Sorry if this is going over old ground...
I'm running Ableton on an intel Core(TM)2 quad cpu Q6600
8Gb RAM
64-bit
Windows 10 Home
and getting the usual drop-outs and crackles at any latency less than 1024ms

I'm pretty sure Fireface drivers are up to date, and so is Windows.
I'm sure I used to get latency of 256ms without too many issues.

What's the weak link here: 
CPU too slow?
Not enough RAM?
Fireface not up to it?

any thoughts gratefully received.

Does this happen with other software as well (Reaper or the like)?

Hi Daniel
I'm afraid I don't really run any other music software.   I used to use Cubase but I've replaced the hard drive recently and haven't reinstalled.

As far as I read in other threads Ableton can have issues.
So it would be for your own advantage to download and install Reaper and try whether problems still exist.
Otherwise its impossible to sort out whether its a typical Ableton problem or not.
