Topic: 24 inline analog console with ADI 8QS

Hello, I plan to buy an Audient ASP 8024 (which is an 24 inline) for my futur studio.

I have a Mac Pro for DAW and I would like to use ADI 8 QS converters to record from the console (or external pream) to daw and daw to the console to mix on it.

I would like to know what do I need to plug all these gears together? Do I need an hdsp card or a madi bridge... There is so many option I don't know how it works and what things is for!

I can think of three ways to do this with products that are currently available. Hope this helps!

3x ADI-8 QS M (QS w/ MADI option card) daisychained with MADI fiber to
1x HDSPe MADI PCI Express card

3x ADI-8 QS connected via dual ADAT lightpipe (S/MUX) to
1x ADI-648 ADAT/MADI converter connected via MADI fiber or BNC to
1x HDSPe MADI PCI Express card

3x ADI-8 QS connected via 25-pin DSUB (AES/EBU) to
1x ADI-6432 AES/MADI converter connected via MADI fiber or BNC to
1x HDSPe MADI PCI Express card

Well, I think I will try the First option which is in my opinion the most simply to do.
(I don't understand very much the difference between the 3...)

Can somebody review the Quality of ADI 8QS? Are the result are around what you had expected? I saw that it can be used at 192K!

(I'm using a FF800 and I'm very happy of it for the price!)

I resurrected this old thread because it has the scenarios I'm curious about.

Which of those 2 setups would have the least latency?

(The daisychained setup is a little less expensive but cost is not an issue in my decision.)

Hi Jason,

The daisychained system would use delay compensation, so I suspect the system with the ADI-6432 would be less latent - though probably quite a minimal difference.
