Topic: UCX causing crackle and glitches iMac 2017 High Sierra

Good evening,

I recently have audio glitches and dropouts on Ableton 10, usually when the CPU is above 50%. It took me sometime to figure out that it came from the UCX. When reverting to the built in soundcard, I don't have this issue.

I've recorded a video of the issue. To be noted, the turbo boost is engaged because of the screen recording. The problem is still there when the turbo boost is not engaged and the sound is worse than in the video.

I saw a few other posts where this issue has been reported.

My config:

The UCX Firmware v47, driver 3.03 directly connected to the computer USB type A slot. The sample rate is 48,000Hz on the soundcard and ableton.

The buffer size in the video is 1024 samples.

iMac 3.4 Ghz i5 Retina 5K, 27 inch 2017 with 40Gb of ram on High Sierra 10.13.4

I have tried different buffer size, I have updated my vsts, i have made sure that the cable is properly connected. The issue still persists. The only way to remove it is to either deactivate the soundcard in ableton for sometime or restart the computer. It is really frustrating.

I hope that a solution will be found because it is hard to work in those conditions.

This issue is the same as a lot of us are dealing with. No clue, probably apple related. But no help or work around from RME, well if you put it in class compliant mode it is supposed to work but I for instance are depending on the Total mix.
