Topic: Where have the rack handles gone?

Why did RME remove rack handles from its newest units?

They were one of the company’s best innovations!

I agree, units with handles look better and 'stronger' in a way ..

Not just that — they allow for easy derigging!

what's a de-rigging?

RME Fireface UCX (macOS Mojave, Mid-2015 MBP)<-in use
RME Multiface (XP, PCG-GRX690) <-in a closet

As in, taking the unit out of a 19" rack case!

Is there an official response from RME on this?

We're about to upgrade our trusty UFX and I can't understand why users wouldn't want rack handles for installing units in 19" rack cases?

Re: Where have the rack handles gone?

For my small Thomann 23cm rack the handles were brilliant to prevent devices to hit the surface with their WC BNC plugs when you rack top down ( I have no fix rack in a room that you can't move).

Which reminds me, it woult be nice if the technical data section of devices would contain weight and diameter information of the devices for quick information e.g. about the depth of the devices, to find proper rack sizes quicker.
This is missing e.g. for Octamic XTC I just checked, but this was the only check/test, could be missing for more devices.

Its IMHO too much work having to open the manuals for that.
