Topic: Can't hear audio when recording (PT11, RME Babyface)

Hi all,

Can anyone help?  I use Pro Tools 11 and a Babyface.  I can't hear any audio in my headphones when recording and it makes it really hard to do a good job of guitar playing!  I can't work out what I'm doing wrong, the babyface is showing as my playback engine in Pro Tools.  In Totalmix I have Talkback selected but not Loopback.  I would attach screenshots but cannot see how to do this on the Forum.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for replying.  I have watched the videos but I do not understand how to change the settings so I can hear audio in my headphones when recording through my Babyface.  Can you tell me exactly what I need to do please?

I have my microphone into the Line In L on the breakout cable.  The level meter on AN 1/2 (the top row on Total Mix) rises when I talk into the microphone.  In the bottom row (Software Playback) the AS 1/2 channel rises when I speak into the microphone.  None of the middle channels (Hardware Inputs) seem to register that I'm talking into the microphone.

The middle row is labeled 'Software Playback', the btttom row 'Hardware Outputs'.

Select the Phones out in the third row, raise fader of AN 1/2 in first row, done.
