Topic: audio playback issue fireface 800 - Macbook Pro

Hi there,

I have the issue of bit crushed sound on playback everything (iTunes, youtube, Logic Pro, Ableton, etc) on Fireface 800 with (Mojave, MacBook Pro 2012, core i7, 8gb RAM) that is connected through firewire 800 cable directly to the laptop. I also tried to connect through thunderblot - Firewire adapter and it stays the same even worse as distorted sound intesified.

Crushed sound stops for a while when I change sample rate in Fireface setting but in some time (about 15sec) it starts again.

Btw I noticed that in Audio-Midi settings there is 32 bit sound and it cannot be changed and in Fireface settings also bit cannot be changed to 24

I would be very appreciated if you can help asap as this issue stops my work

P.S. the latest drivers were installed

Update:
Checked on another Mac through FireWire 800 directly, everything is working. Except when I plug in/out the headphones, ff800 randomly goes to host mode.

So what is the reason of distorted sound on my Mac? And host mode when plug/unplug headphones?

Ps I tried thunderbolt - FireWire authentic Mac adaptor and sound was also distorted with glitches etc

That looks like the unit is defective and needs service.

but what about distorted/ bit crushed audio playback on MacBook Pro?
