Topic: Repeat toggle b/w Ph and Line doesn't prod. HiPower warn. w/ HPs conn.

With headphones remaining plugged in and when toggling between Line Out and Phones by pushing the volume control, the high power warning is not displayed. This is unlike when plugging in headphones with Phones output selected or when connecting the headphones with Line Out selected and then toggling to Phones.

Schematically (with VOL >= -15 dBr on Phones), '->' is symbol for toggling:
1) Headphones connected:     Phones -> Line Out                                                  -> Phones                                  => No warning
2) Headphones connected:     Phones -> Line Out (dis- and reconnect headphones)  -> Phones                                 => Warning
3) Headphones disconnected: Phones -> Line Out (connect headphones)                 -> Phones                                  => Warning
4) Headphones disconnected: Phones -> Line Out                                                  -> Phones (connect headphones) => Warning
With IEMs connected:
1) - 4) identical except 3) and 4) start in IEM (1) and 2) start in first connected) and Phones is always selected after toggling if headphones are connected.
5) Headphones disconnected: IEM (connect headphones) => Warning

Also, when AutoDark Mode is enabled and the display is off, it does not turn on to display the warning to the user. However, the warning is still displayed, as is apparent when the display is turned on by changing the volume.

I haven't tried provoking the displaying of other warnings to see how the DAC handles the displaying of those when the display is turned off.

I have previously expressed the wish that if the display is turned off, the display turn on when headphones/IEMs are connected. I will expand this here to include the displaying of warning messages and in case of overs (flashing the power button red could do here).

That is the behaviour that we designed. You got the warning when you plugged in the phone. There is no reason to show it again and again and again later on as you must have changed the volume while not using the connected headphone. That is not very realistic, while the repeated warning and the need to press encoder 1 would annoy all users to the death.

Regarding the Dark mode and plugging phones - that is something we indeed overlooked, will be changed (same in ADI-2 Pro).

I am not sure I quite understand your reasoning, particularly this (emphasis mine):

Are you referring to the ability to change the volume of inactive outputs in the I/O menu? In that case, the warning might not have been displayed when the headphone was plugged in.

In any case, the volume being ramped up when the output is switched should give the user enough time to decide if the selected volume level is indeed desired.

Good to hear.
