Topic: 3 prong c7 cord for RME ADI 2

I want an aftermarket c7 cord to plug into my power supply for the rme adi 2 dac. I noticed that most cords have 3 prongs instead of 2. Would a c7 cable with a ground pin be dangerous to plug into the rme power supply?

The third pin is not connected so nothing will happen. At the same time it's useless as well.

Thank you. As long as it wont break anything I'm happy. I just wanted an audiophile grade c7 cable. I guess the third pin may just be for stability? Or making sure you get the correct polarity?

"Audiophile grade power cord"... Please, don't be so naive... In the user manual, you will read that the power supply can't modify sonic properties of the unit.
So the last meters of wire before it won't either... Will you replace the wires behind your wall too? And your current provider, is it audiophile grade too?

Re: 3 prong c7 cord for RME ADI 2

I don't spend a lot of money on cables... But I prefer overkill on the shielding. I have computer power cables ontop of xlr ontop of rca cables for miles. The rme is the only thing left with a normal cable. So why not replace the cord going to the power supply with a cable that has better shielding?

Will it make a difference? Maybe not. I'm just trying to make sure all my cables are shielded from each other's emi or rf frequencies. They are also thicker guage. Sometimes the provided cable is not thick enough. I know this is not the case for the rme.

The third prong will also make sure I put the plug in with the right polarity. I'm not sure if that matters either though. And the third prong, if not detrimental, will provide a better grip with the plug.

On a quick search I saw that Audiophile power cables are sold up to €100+ .... thats a lot.

You can of course also wear a fur coat in summer to make sure you don't freeze.

I would spend efforts then if I see or hear, that it is required.

Relax, i spent 20$. I have an rme adi 2 dac into benchmark hpa4. It's a very small % of the total cost of my system.

Sorry, I am slowly starting to become allergic when I read the word audiophile wink
