Topic: Analog line inputs and Mic inputs are noisy? Maybe? Need Help!

I own a Fireface UFX.

With nothing plugged into it, just interface into the computer via usb (for power), my line inputs are showing a level of -93db (RMS). This constantly fluctuates from -93 to -95. My mic inputs read -96 to -98, it also fluctuates.

Should these inputs read UFL/negative infinite? Or do they always have noise even with nothing plugged into it?

AFAIR this is normal, has been asked a few times on the forum.

Sorry that levels I referenced are not RMS. They read -104db to -102db RMS (fluctuating)

Re: Analog line inputs and Mic inputs are noisy? Maybe? Need Help!

Any channel with an A/D converter attached will show self noise even with no audio coming in. Digital channels with nothing connected will show UFL.

Thank you Jeff! My mind can rest now.
