Topic: Advice for a New computer with rme ufx+

Hello everyone ,
I plan to buy a fireface ufx + and I would like at the same time to make a new pc.
After reading in the forum that there were many incompatibilities with usb 3 and thunderbolt, could you give me some advice in order not to make any mistake in the choice of the motherboard.
thank you in advance

Re: Advice for a New computer with rme ufx+

Usually there are no incompatibilities with USB3 coming from chipset (be it AMD or Intel), see UFX+ manual.
But it can always happen that there is a board with a bad BIOS / chipset / design.

There were already many threads about such topics, but every year there is new HW.
If you want to have guaranteed no issues, then get a turnkey system for audio.

A good working system is this here, but the HW is quite old:

Thank you very much for your answer. I was thinking buying a PRIME Z390 of asus. Do you think that could work ? I guess the usb3 are intel base aren't they ?

Usually there will always be USB ports coming from the chipset.
You need to consult the mainboard's handbook, it should have a schema like this.
There you see details from where USB ports are coming, from chipset or 3rd party USB controllers.

Thank you so much,

I found this in the handbook, so I think they are intel usb3 ports ("due to the design of the intel chipset etc...")

But I don't really understand this: "USB 3.1 devices can only be used as data storage only". Does that mean that I can't plug the ufx+ ??

It seems incredible or perhaps I misunderstood…

Re: Advice for a New computer with rme ufx+

Don't know how they mean this ....
These ports should be backward compatible to USB 3.0.
I would reserve USB3.1 gen 2 ports exclusively for external USB 3.1 gen 2 storage, as it's very fast and suitable for backup.
No need to "waste" those for recording which only needs USB 3.0.

Yes, I agree.

I will phone to asus tomorow to know exactly what they mean.
