Topic: DSD Talk - ADI-2 Pro and HDSP RayDat

Hello,

I am interested in mixing a PCM multitrack sessions to a two track DSD file - hence the ADI-2 Pro. I'm still in the planning phase, but I feel pretty solid on a PCIe interface like the RayDAT.

The challenge for me is: How do I go about recording the two track mix as DSD while also playing the PCM multitrack? Is this something I'll need a second computer for?

So, does the signal chain need to look like this:
1) DAW (multitrack) in play mode
2) RayDAT out
3) Some two channel DAC (with Toslink input and stereo line outs)
4) Line In 1/2 to the API-2 Pro
5) USB to a 2nd machine with DSD recording software

I'd like to avoid a second computer if possible. Also, is it possible to use the Toslink on the API-2 Pro during all this - avoiding the "some other two channel DAC" bit? I feel like using the Toslink in (at 96kHz/192kHz) and a conversion to DSD (at 768kHz) isn't going to work. Any tips would sure be swell :-) Thanks!

RayDAT and Pro use different drivers, so you can use them in one computer, as long as you use two different applications for playback and recording.
