Topic: What happens with the SPDIF Copy protection bit with RME devices ?

Imagine somebody wants to transfer his own recordings from a DAT to PC.
But this doesnt work because the DAT sets the copy protection bit.
DAT -> optical SPDIF -> Recording device -> USB -> PC

What possibilities are there to solve this ?
By routing the SPDIF signal to an AES output because in AES the copy protection bit has a different meaning ?
Other ideas ?

I can only assume that the action is legal, it was a guy from another forum who asked this and I am wondering if problems like this maybe happen more often so I am only interested in, whether something like this can be fixed easily.

I think the copy protection bit is only transmitted with consumer formats like optical etc, not AES

SCMS is totally ignored at the SPDIF inputs. As simple as that...
