Topic: Doubled Track Sent Simoltaneously To Adi-2 And 8 I/o

I use a sistem based with

RME HDSP 9652
RME ADI-2
NUENDO 8 i/o

If doubled a track in nuendo and assign
one track to ADI-2
and one track to 8i/o
when I play the two track simoltaneously (completely dry)
I can heard as sum of the two tracks an orrible chorousing/phaseing effect
(as the two track were not in synchronous or not in phase...).
depends on what?

Their DA converters have a different delay time, the ADI-2 is newer = quicker. The difference is about half a millisecond. But it should not sound like chorus/phaser as it is static, means not modulated.

Yes,
thats true, there isn't a really modulation.
just a very fast out of phase modulation with a big increase of bass frequency .
What's the solution for this?

Re: Doubled Track Sent Simoltaneously To Adi-2 And 8 I/o

I've post my topic because is in my idea to experiment
the use of doubled tracks routed in more busses
where add different process
to sum all in a final stereo buss.
I thought could be more easy
to work with several converters
from the same family (adi8-adi2).
There is no possibilty
to compensate a limitation like this
by setting hdsp software?

There is no delay in the HDSP mixer. I would suggest that if you want to double tracks this way you either keep them all on the same converter (ADI-8) or split them analog.

When using individual tracks (not doubled ones), the different conversion latency will not be noticeable.

I'll try to follow your advice
I'll route the double tracks on the same converter
tring to operate with the total mix
first without abadon the environment in digital
then going out in analog.
