Topic: Is Fireface 800 running for you in Windows 10?

I'm facing installation problems in Windows 10 (1903) and I need your experiences.
My device is not detected after 3.125 driver installation. PCI firewire controller card appears to be ok so, is Fireface 800 really compatible?. Windows 10 driver is available for the device, but the product info page do not shows the same information about the driver support.

Please help!

You're the second person on here I've seen having issues with 1903.  I had two relatively minor issues, but was able to resolve them quickly after updating to 1903.

First is that 1903 reverted my IEEE 1394 (Firewire) driver back to the Win10 standard.  I reinstalled the Legacy driver and that took care of that.

Secondly, it got rid of TotalMix completely.  Again, a re-install took care of that problem and now I'm OK.

I would double-check your Firewire and make sure you have the Legacy driver installed.  When I had the standard driver installed, I just got lots of pops & clicks and had terrible latency problems in general.  But that was on 1809, and it's possible there are worse issues under 1903.

Best of luck.

Here informations about the Microsoft legacy Firewire driver:
https://www.studio1productions.com/Arti … wire-1.htm

This leads you to this Microsoft Support page, where you can download the legacy driver:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel … s-8-1-or-w

If you have a Dell or a Gateway computer and the above fix / driver doesn't work for you,
they tell in the 1st link, that you might want to try the driver from this link:

You should not have to install the legacy Firewire driver for the FF800 to be detected in Windows 10, though. For example, my FF800 is detected just fine on a bootcamped 2018 via TB3->TB2->FW800->FF800 running a fresh installation of Windows 10. W10 is using its own LSI FW driver dated back to 2006 there.

On my desktop PC W10 is using the same 2006 LSI driver. I would have to put in my TI based FW card to see how old its corresponding (default W10) driver is.

Finally problem was a chipset incompatibility from the Startech PCIe card:
