Yes, thats what I did. No problem so far.
But what do this error mean? Why is it happening?

Ah ok, found it. I really love rme attention to engineering. But Im curious why in lay man terms.
I have both phones and iem plugged in and only the iem is playing audio. This error happen but my iem is still playing. The rme adi 2 is warmer than usual. Is the problem with the iem playing too loud and drawing too much power and as a safety precaution switched off the phone output even if its not playing?
Is that a DAC or Pro?

Then you should check your source signal via the DAC's Analyzer. If the lowest band to the left is up then your source has DC content and might activate the protection via Phones output if volume is set to higher levels.
