I would like to share my experience with a couple thunderbolt hubs.

I have a macbook pro early 2015 with TB2 ports (mojave 10.14.6) ; UFX and UFXII + ARC USB

I had an elgato thunderbolt 2 dock that was working very well.

Now I am testing a caldigit thunderbolt station 3 plus connected with the apple T3 to T2 adapter, with this unit I am experiencing "sometimes" distorted audio with bit crashed sound (as other customer reported) during the recording of even a single audio channel.

I wonder why this happens "sometimes", while most of the time everything works flawlessly.
