Topic: More than 3 mixers in TFX?

Is it possible to have more than 3 mixer tabs? Currently I have 3 tabs already (DSP9652, FF800, UFX).

What happens when I would add a 4th device, e.q. a Digiface USB?

You would get one TM FX instance more.

I do not understand exactly what this looks like.

Do you mean I should open a second TM FX instance? If so, how does the software know which RME devices are bound to which instance of TM FX?

You can do what you want.
Open 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 TM FX instance(s).
In the upper right corner of each TM FX instance there is a pulldown menue to select the card.
