Topic: Heavy noise booting UFX - power supply failure?

For a while I have some bitcrushing noise on the analog inputs when I turn on my UFX.

Here's a video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vhj6kthhb1k7azx/ufx.MOV?dl=0

Just happens on initial boot up in the morning. Once the spaceship has landed and I turn it off and back on everything is back to normal. Is the power supply failing? Anything else?

It's a unit from 2013 and working great otherwise.

Re: Heavy noise booting UFX - power supply failure?

Yes, power supply is dying. There could also be other issues, you should send it for a check up with your local RME distributor.

Thanks, Jeff!

And another one bites the dust.  Seriously, for how well engineered the RME interfaces are, they certainly cheaped out on the power supplies.  This has ALWAYS been the case with RME interfaces and the number one point of failure with them.  It isn't a matter of if, but when they die.

I have never had issues with power supplies with any other manufacturer of my stuff, but a quick look will show tons of failures with the PSU of RME kit.

Inbetween I've exchanged the power supply with a new one, the UFX works perfectly again!
