Topic: Linked FF800 not passing audio on channels 5/6

Greetings RME community. Hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe! I have 2 FF800s linked together via firewire/optical and it has been a really great pairing having 20 analog channels. Today however, I was pulling hairs figuring out what was wrong in my chain when audio stopped passing on channels 5/6. I went from swapping cables and mixer ins/outs, until I finally realized it was Total Mix/FF800s not receiving/processing the input on channels 5 and 6. This is all running into Ableton and I am 100% Ableton is set up how it always has been (when it worked in the past even). Everything looks good to me in my Total Mix view, but I am more than happy to share more images than the one provided below. Thank you so much for your time!

Hello Derrick! How are you?

The routing is good on your second FF800!
What about the routing of the first one? Can you post a screenshot of the matrix view of the first one, as well?

Hi MetalHeadKeys! Good how are you?

Here's the screenshots of both FF800 1/2 matrix: https://imgur.com/a/x2xzzcr

Thanks for your response and hope you're staying safe!

Re: Linked FF800 not passing audio on channels 5/6

Glad you 're doing fine!
I 'm good, as well !

Both routings are good!
Can you check if "loopback" is activated on Analog Outputs 5/6 of the second FF800?

Did you, also, try to plug a source directly to Channels 5/6 and check?
Maybe, there's a wrong setting on your mixer?(mute or cue button pushed?)

Re: Linked FF800 not passing audio on channels 5/6

Hmm I do not know how to check if loopback is activated, but now all the inputs are working fine today on FF800(2). I didn't change anything, but today is a new day so maybe the computer needed a restart. Today however, it seems that outputs 1/2 on FF800 (2) isn't sending audio. 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 outputs work perfect though. I did tedious cable/swap testing to make sure my other equipment isn't at fault. Here's the screenshots again if useful. Thank you again for helping me!

Re: Linked FF800 not passing audio on channels 5/6

You 're welcome!

To check if Loopback is activated, you should click at the "Settings" Icon(a tool-like icon), found at the right side of every hardware Output, and check if it 's "lit". If it is, click on it to deactivate it!

Other than that, I cannot think of anything more!
It could be a power supply issue, when random inputs or outputs stop working, randomly!
Could you check with another power supply?

Hey thanks for showing me how to check that! I got everything working now smile
