Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina) driver preview

RME has compiled drivers for use with the next Mac OS operating system 10.15 (Catalina), and offers these for interested users and everyone testing Catalina as preview download.

These drivers might not work as expected with older OS – the usual beta warnings apply (only use them on test systems etc).

Background: On fresh installations of 10.15 new driver packs are needed that are fully notarized. The drivers are mostly identical, but these new packages also include an updated TotalMix FX 1.62 beta 4, which is compiled with the latest XCode.


Notes

- The old 'remove USB device hangs USB' issue is still present under 10.15 betas

- Update: issue resolved in latatest 10.15 beta (The CPU load of the WindowServer is higher than usual with TotalMix FX).

- The USB 3 MIDI plugin of the USB driver is updated as the former one didn't work under 10.15 beta


Be careful during installation! The Privacy dialog to allow the driver loading can be hidden behind the driver's final reboot dialog as they come up nearly simultaneously – do not reboot before allowing 'RME GmbH' to load!

TotalMix FX 1.62b4 fixes two pan issues for UFX+ and UFX II which were reported on this forum. It also adds an ARC USB option 'Push-off or-on', see

I will never ever buy another audio device than from RME. Name me another company that supports 15 year old devices? (I've gots 2 FF400s still going strong with latest Macs). The service is so good I'd like to pay for it. Suggestion: add a "Send me beer"- button to your site to satisfy this need in these long upgrade cycles. smile I love the fact it also saves the environment. I don't need to buy some crap every other year.

Fully agree. Thats what I always tell people who have not the experience and overview over the recording interface market.

In contrast to that: see i.e. Windows related products: no win7 support anymore for modern CPUs and mainboards :-((
Microsoft is heavily fighting that we shall love Win10 and forget about the better 7 ;-)

Hi there - will the firmware update tool be updated to work in Catalina? Tried to use it, but says it needs to be updated for 64bit support (was trying to update my Fireface UC).

Fireface UCX user here trying to get this latest firmware to run on my iMac running 10.15.

Everything seems to install normally and then after I reboot and run "Fireface Settings" the application simply pops up in the Dock and then closes down. The icon remains in the Dock but doesn't show as active and there are no windows. I can continue to click on the Dock Icon but it simply bounces up to start up and then immediately closes down again.

Thoughts?

The current FUTs work. You seem to use an outdated one.

This thread is about drivers, not firmware. And these drivers have been released on our website. Please download the non-beta version there.

Noch kein grosses Testen veranlasst,aber Fireface 800 läuft an Mac mini 2018 ( direkt von Apple gekauft, gestern geliefert) mit 10.15.4. iTunes, Logic pro. Angeschlossen über Usb C zu Thunderbolt Adapter an Thunderbolt zu Fireface 800 Adapter.
Habe Mini aus Backup von macBook Pro "restored", musste dann aber die Fireface Treiber nochmals installieren, damit sie liefen

I'm running macOS 10.15.4 with my RME Fireface 800 and the v 3.37 driver. Generally things seem to work fine but the midi ports of the device do not show up in my DAW or other related software.

It helps to read the dates of the last posts before replying. Current FW driver is 3.39, MIDI is fixed for some time already. And I will close this thread now...
