Topic: New Computer with USB-C Windows TB2 to USB-C UFX +

Hi all
I have purchased a new PC  Windows computer for audio
I run the RME UFX+
Can I run the TB2 from the interface with an adaptor to go to USB-C?
I have purchased the apple adaptor but My computer did not see the connection when plugged into the TB connection on the interface,
What is the fix for this ?
or is USB connection my only choice with Windows?

I was under the impression that USB-c was backward compatible with both USB and thunderbolt protocols

Thanks

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

You can use or either USB3 or 2, or use thunderbolt3 via a Startech TB3<->TB2 convertor. Apple's convertor seems only to work with the newer TB revisions. And I heard that there is no compatibilty list available. Hope this helps.

thanks I will look at going down the Startech TB3<->TB2 path
Cheers

On a port that is advertised like that yes. But it can be pure usb too, maybe even only TB on usb-c port but not sure that exists in practice. If a non apple device it is probably usb only. But it is easy to check with the mobo specs.
If multiple usb-c ports can even differ per port.
