Topic: rme uc - adat

Hi,

I am just curious to know how many chanels ADAT will give me?

I want to start using analog summing. So I am looking to buy a 16 channel summing box (Ex Dangerous 2Buss).

BUT the thing is I am afraid I do not have enough inputs/Outputs on my RME UC + AD/DA converter through ADAT.

In totalmix I can only see 3 ADAT channels 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8.
What is AS 1/2?

But then I read that I could hook up the ADI-8 DS to ADAT of my RME UC. But that is 8 channel in and 8 channel OUT right?`Will that work?

Re: rme uc - adat

ADAT is 8 channels. AS 1/2 is the first two ADAT channel or the two SPDIF channels if the optical I/O is used as SPDIF.

Re: rme uc - adat

Thanks for the answer.

Another question. The RME ADI-4DD has no analog in/outs. I dont understand what it is for? I would like to get 8 chanels extra to me RME UC.
Which one should I go with?

The ADI-8 is 8chanel in and 8 channel out. So seems like I only can use 50% if I hook it up to my UC?

This is a jungle :S big_smile

Re: rme uc - adat

Please read the product descriptions, then you will see what type of converters these are:
ADI-8 DS -> AD/DA converter
ADI-4DD -> ADAT to AES (and vice versa) converter

From technical perspective the old Web server pages still give me quicker overview over a product (at least I am still used to it), maybe this helps you as well:
