Topic: Fireface 400 not recognised on MacOS Catalina

Hi folks,

I've just got a new MacBook Pro (2018 model, running OS 10.15.6) but I'm struggling to connect my trusty FireFace 400.

In lieu of any Firewire -> Thunderbolt 3 cables I'm daisy-chaining:

- Firewire 800 -> Firewire 400
- Firewire 400 -> Thunderbolt 2
- Thunderbolt 2 -> Thunderbolt 3

I think the connection must be working, purely because the lights on my FireFace tend to flicker when I plug it in - but sadly, I can't get my system to recognise it.

I've tried installing several different drivers. I'm currently on 338 having failed with 336 and 339. In System Information I'm getting Notarised: Yes, Loaded: No.

I'm a bit perturbed that after my first attempt (with 336) no other drivers show up in Security & Privacy asking for acceptance. I wonder if they're being blocked.

I'm using an external power supply.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Joe

You need a power supply for the FF400.

Hi MC - as I say, I'm using an external power supply. Is that what you meant?

Yes. Are you sure the switch on the back is in in the right position and the external power supply is working correctly? If both is the case then you might find the solution here:
