The one function I would like to be able to use as soon as possible is leaving headphones plugged in and being able to toggle between the rca outs and the HP. I've read the relevant parts of the manual but I confess to being terribly confused.

I'd be most grateful for help remapping the remote to allow this toggling function. Once done, I could then take my time and learn more about setting up the many functions available. Help appreciated. But please understand that I require step-by-step guidance. Anyone willing to help should imagine providing instruction to a child -- I'm that ignorant :-)
