Topic: RME ADI2 DAC FS & tablet with powered USB hub

Hi everyone,

I am using the RME ADI2 DAC FS as an USB DAC for music streamed from an android tablet. Currently, the tabled runs off a battery and needs to be charged daily. This is very impractical and I am considering using a powered USB hub to charge the tablet simultaneously with the music playback. Would this set-up be safe for the RME ADI2 DAC FS? Any experience anyone? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

David

I know this is no direct answer, but for Apple you can get this, which I have in daily use. A Lightning USB adapter with Lightning charging port:

Maybe there's something similar for Android somewhere?

A powered USB hub would just provide power to the devices that need it, so I see no issues.

Re: RME ADI2 DAC FS & tablet with powered USB hub

Hi David,

a powered USB hub is probably not enough to charge and play music through at the same time. I have two powered USB hubs and I can play usb audio through both of them but not charge my phone.
I used to have a Sony Xperia phone that could do that with a special Sony Ericsson DK10 LiveDock. But the LiveDock doesn't work with my Samsung Galaxy S7 - I just checked this.
Maybe there is a device that works with your tablet, but I don't know.
There are also hubs that let you switch between charge and normal USB functionality, like this one https://www.amazon.de/Micro-Power-Charg … B00SEKZHI8
