i have a pretty basic setup with my RME FIREFACE UCX with a motif 7 as controller running into the optical output. however, recently, i've discovered the controller synth output isn't being controlled by the UCX. in general, the output from the keyboard doesn't register with an audible sound until the channel strip is half way to full volume. as well there isn't enough of a signal with the channel all the way open to record anything directly from any of the patches in the keyboard. i use CAKEWALK SONAR X3 as my DAW of choice, but it doesn't appear there's a problem with the DAW. i've run out of ideas for checking, and i'm fearful the keyboard is on life support (it's only been used for studio applications but its probably 10 years old) and i only use the UCX as a very basic hookup so i'm turning to more experienced users to assist in what might be the problem.
