Topic: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

I get an immediate app crash every time I select "channel layout" in the settings menu

IOS 14.2
Windows TotalMix FX 1.70b5
Raydat  latest drivers
IOS TotalMix FX 1.20 (latest) - but crashes with previous version too.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

Has this been fixed with today’s Total Mix update for iOS?

TotalMix FX for iPad is not affected. orange talks about the TotaMix Remote app for iOS.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

We can not reproduce crashes of the iPad Remote with the RayDAT. Might be caused by a specific setting/mixing/routing. Can you please send the current state of your Windows TM FX (the host), which enables the crashing, as workspace? This might help us to reproduce the crash.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

I have a PC here with Madi FX and the same issue - I also get the crash even if I'm not connected

(disabled the remote server in total mix)

So I don't think it's my workspace.  I'll try removing the app and reinstalling

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

removed and reinstalled the app but still crashes when I select 'channels' in the app

I disable the remote server - so that the app says "offline" and I still get the crash

(latest IOS)

I've sent the .tmws file to support@

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

Received, thanks. But yes, disabling the server the crash cause must be local.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

Yes the crash is local - but happens after you connect and download the configuration from totalmix

What I mean is when you reinstall you get a demo version of a UFX (?) - that works fine without crashing.  When you connect to a real totalmix it crashes.   Taking the totalmix server offline....you go into offline mode on the app....but the crash remains.

This is recent ipad - latest version of IOS - nothing running in the background (as much as it is possible to tell with an ipad) - only a small handful of apps loaded as it's used as a DAW remote only.

100% reproducible here - crashes every time.

Not to worry if you can't track it down as I don't use it that much.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

It would help enormously if you activate the sharing of crash reports with the developers on your iPad. We didn't receive such from your case. These reports are often very informative and lead to a quick fix.

After you activate it please make it crash again, to make sure one report is sent.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

thanks Matthias

I can't seem to find a setting to "share crash reports with devs" - either in the app or in ipad settings....?

where do I enable it ?

Privacy, Analytics, Share with App Developers

not on my ipad - I have:

Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements > Share iPad Analytics (which shares with apple- no mention of devs)

not to worry I found an .ips with a stack trace.  I'll email it through.

And as soon as you enable that more options occur...

Not yet. Did you zip the file before sending it?

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

I sent it yesterday and it was only 76kb so I didn't bother to zip it - also just plain text so I can't imagine a spam filter would block it.

I sent it again zipped to support@

thanks

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

No good news. The crash report shows the specific point in our code, but not the reason. Accessing the Channel Layout generates a bunch of iOS calls to reload the channel list, and one of these iOS calls crashes. It might have something to do with the size of the channel list (quite big for RayDAT and especially HDSPe MADI FX), but the content (your Workspace) includes no errors, and we can't reproduce that crash here, with neither card.

So there is no immediate fix or help possible, sorry.

Re: Crash in TotalMix FX (remote!) for iPad

thanks for looking

this happens with Raydat but the log I sent was MADI FX - hence the large channel count.

As I mentioned, the crash happens even if the Totalmix server is offline.  Not to worry though - at least you are aware of potential issue.
