Topic: TotalMix effects

So far on my bf pro fs I have only used the delay and reverb while recording vocal so I have effects in my headphones without having use the DAW effects. This works great and they sound decent enough. The track gets laid clean and I add Cubase effects afterwards.

Today I tried sending a vocal track out from Cubase into a virtual input and back into Cubase and made the new track fully wet and mixed in with the dry track. I only used the delay but the quality to me sounded better than the delays in Cubase.

So my question is. Are the effects on the bfp fs recognised as great sounding and does anyone else use them in this way?

Re: TotalMix effects

There is no right and wrong, use what you like. If it sounds good ..

Usually people use different effects for different purposes. I personally still prefer the "lush" Lexicon Reverbs for my Guitar.
Some people like R2 for a thick reverb, some like Phoenixverb which is more transparent.

There are many different sounding reverbs with different "color" / "densities" for many different sounds/purposes.
I would use what works best for a particular track / song.

Other aspects are workflow/handling:

I also would use RME effects for a vocalist to add some "volume" to the sound if the vocalist needs it to feel comfortably when singing. And this is easier than having to provide a routing from a DAWs reverb signal to the recording interface.

In the DAW its maybe easier to use Reverb either as send or as insert, depending on the use case / project structure.
If I only want to add reverb for my guitar track when doing an overdub, then I prefer using the effect as insert.
If I need the reverb for several tracks in different intensities, then I use a send.

Re: TotalMix effects

Thanks. I just wondered what others opinions were of them. Nice to have though
