Topic: Totalmix loopback summing question

Hi,
If I have an audient asp800 connected to the babyface adat in.
If I then select loopback on adat output channels one and two (nothing connected) and then record on adat input channels one and two (where the asp800 is connected) can I then use the toneshaping of the asp800 channels one and two?
Or is all the loopback taking place internally and bypasses the actual inputs?

Kind regards,

Re: Totalmix loopback summing question

Hello!

Yes, the loopback is taking place internally, so you cannot do what you 're after, just by doing that.

As a work-around, you could try connecting you Phones Output, using a TRS -> 2 TS cable, to the Audient Inputs you want to use.

Of course, these will not be balanced connections, but if you use a short cable and avoid placing it near power cables, you won't have any noise issues.
But since I don't know your exact situation, I cannot guarantee anything. You 'll have to try it for yourself and see if it suits you!

The other solution is to buy a D/A converter, connect it using the ADAT Out Port of your BF, route the signal(s) over there,
and then using balanced cables, connect it to the Audient!
Just keep the clocking in mind !

Going this route, you 'll have to set the Audient as Master Clock, BF to Slave(Clock Source -> Optical In), and the new D/A to Slave, as well !

Re: Totalmix loopback summing question

Thank you very much.
That was kind of what I thought the answer would be but I wasn’t totally sure after reading the manual.
I’ll be using the workaround when needed.
