Topic: 18kHz resonance peak

Hello, I just noticed this peak when I connect my guitars DI'ed into either inputs 3 or 4 on my babyface pro. I've tried different cables, guitars, and computers with the same peak so I think its something with the interface? Anybody have any idea what the issue might be?

Re: 18kHz resonance peak

If it is not there without the guitar or something else connected (for example cd player) it is not the interface.
Finding out what it is might be difficult as it might be impossible to hear (at least for my older ears),

Re: 18kHz resonance peak

So with the guitar unplugged, and the 1/4 cable tip touching my finger, I still get the 18kHz peak

Re: 18kHz resonance peak

Yeah that is normal, if there is interference. But it is hard to say where it is coming from. Could be radio interference or through the mains, or a device on the same power group.
If you don't have it with a synth or a cd player connected it is not the interface.

Re: 18kHz resonance peak

Hi!

I have seen this with recording from Fireface 800 and microphones Neumann and Line Audio
not exactly 18 kHz more like 16 or 17 kHz, sometimes I just use an EQ to filter this out
Why it's there in the first place maybe lighting or interference between FF800 and power?
I'm not sure

Re: 18kHz resonance peak

Unfortunately, I don't have a synth or cd player to test with but someone in another forum was saying it could be the converters. I don't think its power at least for the babyface pro because its usb bus powered

Re: 18kHz resonance peak

If it is not there without a cable and or you touching the cable it is not the converters.
