I'm having a problem with my fireface uc .
I'm using 2 uc connected together to get 16 in and outs. I got a cable to split the headphones out into two separate 7 and 8 mono on each of them and I'm getting a weird noise only from these outputs.
The weird part is that it happens only when I start cubase.
Anyone knows what the could be the issue?
Could be the buffer setting in Cubase is too small ?
Try select a bigger buffer 512 ?
Can you change the main output of the cubase to another channel and see if the noise is going there ?
If the other channels work then maybe this is a simple ground loop issue? I am pretty sure connecting phones there would not show any 'weird noise', unless the two UC are not clock synced.
I removed my posting after more thinking and reading your post Matthias, it contains the essence whats important now to check. My post contained more info on general troubleshooting strategies, but got a bit long, thanks for getting it back to the point

Yes could definitely be that but how do I solve that?

The noise is only on 7/8 in each uc. The other outs work good!
What exactly are these outputs conected to? Have you tried with headphones?

They are connected to patch bay!
Please test with headphones directly....

It works good with headphones. I need it to go to the patch bay though. Is there a way to do it?
How exactly are they connected, what kind of cable is this? If it works without noise with phones, then the noise is not caused by the output as such.

It's a 1/4 inch stereo jack that's splitting into two inputs..
