Topic: 802 USB Mass Storage Device

Ok, I know the topic is a bit misleading, but I wasn't sure how to word it.

Included a Fireface 802 in my studio and am setting it up, but had a quick quesiton.

In Windows 10 the 802 is read by the O/S as a USB mass storage device. It gives me the option of "Safely removing and ejecting" the 802. Though, I'm no Windows knowledge deity, this seems odd to me since the 802 should have no mass storage device. Am I wrong?

The 802 is working flawlessly as a WDM or ASIO device, so there's no real "problem." Thing is, my OCD wishes the USB removal icon - which always displays in the task bar notification area (lower right) - could be turned off.

Is there a known way to do this on the RME driver/software side?

Re: 802 USB Mass Storage Device

Simply ignore it.
You can hide it by configuring the Windows notification area and determine what you always want to see and what not.

Yes, I'm well aware that I can configure the notification area. I do not want to do this for many reasons.

Re: 802 USB Mass Storage Device

There is no mass storage device anywhere. Windows lists P&P USB devices for safely removal. Nothing unusual.
