Topic: Have you used a KVM switch?

I was wondering if I could use one of these KVM (keyboard video mouse) which are used to share those devices between 2 computers to switch the BBF proFS between those computers such as this one:

Would there be any problems?
Has anyone tried it?
Are there some certified units that have been tested?

I use two computers and sometimes I need to switch from one to another

Re: Have you used a KVM switch?

Would probably be fine if you restarted the machine you recently switched to. But it may work without a restart but probably would not be graceful with the previous system.

Re: Have you used a KVM switch?

HUB function is not supported. USB devices such as USB hub, U disk, printers and scaners cannot be detected.
This text is copy out of the description of that thing.
I guess it will not work at all and propbably not even on one computer !

Re: Have you used a KVM switch?

Depending on your exact needs you could use a usb switch, which is something like a usb hub with 2 switchable inputs. You can then switch your monitor on the monitor itself or on a kvm (with or without mouse and keyboard attached, those can also go on the usb switch). Still have not tried it so might cause dropouts with BF.

Re: Have you used a KVM switch?

USB (and also Firewire) Switchers are working fine here, it shouldn't be a problem.
As the Babyface is bus powered not sure if that goes smooth with the switch. If not, you could use an external power supply.
