Topic: [RME UFX mk1] Can RME ARC remote control be disassembled for a fix?

I have been using my ARC remote control with my UFX mk1 nicely for almost 7 years now smile
But I started to notice that, PHONE 2 button's small green lighting bulb (?) has been detached(?) a little bit,
so whenever I click that (I have assigned it to control the volume of my headphone post-fader volume),

It does not make clicky sound because, inside, something seems to be stuck smile

I know if I can disassemble this remote, it would be a very easy fix,
But is it possible?
or highly not recommended?

Other buttons and lightings are fine!

I am talking about BLUE 6 assignable buttons mk1 model!

Has anyone faced similar minor cosmetic problem like me?

Thanks !

Only FYI .. you can also use the ARC USB plugged to the computer, TM FX performs then the interfacing to the UFX.

haha Sorry, but what do you mean...? hehe?

I am talking about the hardware side (a very minor issue), I use it every day with my UFX... lol
I am referring to the 'small' green light attached right inside the 'PHONE 2' button smile

I wonder if anyone had fixed this minor issue... or even lights must go off sometime soon so... yeah..

I never forcefully press buttons though.

Re: [RME UFX mk1] Can RME ARC remote control be disassembled for a fix?

If I understood you correctly, then you have issues with your ARC and want to try to repair it yourself, right ?

I am not sure whether you know, that the new - even more advanced - remote control - the ARC USB -
can be used with *any* RME recording interface that supports "TotalMix FX".

A maybe better alternative to a repair of the old ARC might be to buy the new ARC USB with even more functions:

But he can't connect the new ARC USB directly to the old UFX. In case that is important...otherwise go ARC USB.

haha I see!! I thought you did not understand my question! smile
all good! yeah eventually I might get a new one!
But since this is a very minor issue!

I just wanted to fix it myself smile

Do you know , or have you ever disassemble old RME ARC remote...?!

Because I cannot find a way anywhere on the internet.

Just one small light inside the middle button fell off a bit...
so I do not need to buy a new one!
cause everything works still fine smile

Because I have this light inside the E button fell of a bit...?

really minor issue, no clicky sound, but everything works fine so...

My UFX mk1 is still strong in 2021 smile

Sorry don't know, maybe RME can help. I upgraded from UFX to UFX+ and sold ARC when doing this, never had such a demand to fix an ARC.

I can only tell you that the ARC is fun to work with as it offers more functions: everything is configurable and also connection of an external foot-switch as trigger is supported.

The only drawback for you might be, that you can not connect it directly to the UFX on the back.

Another thing is maybe to consider an upgrade to UFX II or even UFX+. Very nice interface, as a couple of things changed on the interfaces: https://archiv.rme-audio.de/download/te … es_UFX.pdf

See also my blog article, I think I found even some more points from customer perspective: https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/ind … 8-RME-UFX/

Therefore I wrote "you can also use the ARC USB plugged to the computer", but this was too terse, thanks Matthias for pointing this out wink

AFAIR there are screws on the bottom of the unit...

Ah~! I see, thank you! I have serious thought about replacing UFX mk1 unit with newer model and seriously asked for advice from RME... but strange enough, RME team discouraged me, instead, they told me the converter of UFX mk1 is 'still' good enough. So.. I am investing my budget on other things. But most likely I will upgrade to UFX 2 or UFX + within 1~2 years! Because I am also seeking for flexible 16 channel summing mixing too smile (since UFX mk1 has only 8 Anlaog outs smile)
