Topic: Soloing channels doesn’t mute FX return?

Just realised when soloing input channels (which aren’t being sent to the reverb FX) the return can still be heard at full volume on the output channel, surely this isn’t intentional?

A screenshot of this Totalmix situation would be helpful.?

Think I’ve identified the ‘cause’ - I’ve been using ‘cue’ to listen to a different output channel mix.

Still, not sure why it would be useful to hear the FX return when soloing channels on a cue mix?

Re: Soloing channels doesn’t mute FX return?

I can not say exactly whats going on, i don't have this all in my head and also I don't know what your interface is.
In general return can only bring something that is send to.
is there a send not fully closed ?
Soloing can be pre or post fader ?
Also possible the DAW is providing unexpected signal somewhere ?
This is not a solution for your problem, I know, it's just some thoughts if you allow me.
edit :
I had a short look into the user manual and it confirms the solo ist post fader.
And the send-FX is coupled to the fader.
Soloing the channel does not mute the sendFX or returnFX.
During a live show you can solo an input channel for adjusting EQ or dynamics without disturbing the reverb, this makes sense to me. Imagine the live concert and the Reverb goes on and off because you listening some talents solo. For your headphone just close the return on the headphone output channel.

Thanks for your response.  We're using the MADIface XT - DAW playback is muted when I cue the output channel in Totalmix.

To clarify, the channel I am solo-ing is _not_ the channel being sent to the reverb which is why I was surprised by this behaviour!

Re: Soloing channels doesn’t mute FX return?

I understand what you mean and I hope you agree to the architecture of Totalmix this way ?
It would be catastrophal when solo listening would affect the effect signals of other channels, or the main output signal to the PA.
On the other hand it could be a feature request "enable true solo", muting everything else including FX--return.
And still I am not sure, because having the FXreturn fully closed is kind of normal during solo-adjustments.
