Topic: Babyface Pro and Zoom

Hi Folks:

Using my Babyface Pro FS and zoom, I am not able to adjust the mic volume coming in to Zoom unless I use the Mic gain.  The input sliders don't make any difference.  If some one could tell me how to sort this out, I would appreciate it all over the place.

On another matter, I am also not able to send affects to Zoom on my mike channel.

Thanks all over the place.

The input slider you are talking, is this a fader in Zoom ? Or in Totalmix ?
Totalmix is where you have to adjust the volume of the signal you are forwarding from mic input to the zoom.
If you receive the signal from the mic directly in Zoom without any routing in Totalmix then the input gain on the Babyface is the right place to adjust it.

Jim, to say it in an easy way: the faders are monitoring volume controls. They do not regulate the levels to the record application. That's why you have to change the (hardware) gain to do the adjustment.

Sending FX to a record source requires Loopback setup, as FX are only sent to the hardware outputs (third row - via Loopback then to the Zoom recording input). The manual has a chapter about this.

Hello:

I am using TotalMix and, as I say, I am unable to control the volume goint in to Zoom via the USB port.  The slider works for the hardware out but not for usb.  The same ggoes for the affects.

You should get in direct contact (telephone) with our support guys, like Jeff in the US or Daniel in Europe. Explaining this all to a blind user in a forum where people usually rely on pictures and videos will most probably just cause a mountain of posts, confusion and disappointment. Save yourself the time and let them guide you and explain live how to use it.

Hello:

Thanks for your response and thanks for the support that you provide.

It's unfortunate that you take that sort of stand.  Thankfully, companies such as Reaper and Native Instruments have a different approach and go out of there way to make their software accessible. It took a third party developer to make even basic access to your software possible.

Blind folks, as well as everyone else, have paid good money for your products and deserve to have access to the functionality that your software provides.

It's not a question of asking those support persons for help, it's just a fact that your program is not accessible to those of us who rely on screen reading software.

We deserve better treatment than that.

Thanks.

Re: Babyface Pro and Zoom

Let's give it a try with a step-by-step guide.

The microphone is connected and Totalmix is open.
The hardware output AN1/2 must be active, you have to click on it, somewhere next to the fader.
The output is now highlighted and activated for receiving signals from the inputs.
You can doubleclick the fader of it.
And you have then click the wrench tool button to open the channel, there are some buttons inside.
There is the button Loopback, click on it.
The hardware input channel where your microphone signal is coming in, doubleclick on its fader.
Now the signal goes to output AN1/2.
Next to the input fader of the mic signal is a small fader, the FX-send, you can pull up this fader for sending some of your signal to the effect, activate reverb effect before.
Next to the AN1/2 output fader is a small fader the Fx-return, pull it up a bit for adding reverb to the signal.
This AN1/2 signal with reverb is going into the Zoom application because you have pressed the Loopback button.
The fader of harware output AN1/2 is for you to use for adjust the volume of the mic signal send into Zoom.
The small faders Fx-send and FX-return are for adjusting the amount of reverb signal.
You can try this step-by-step, it may help.
But the telephone support from Jeff and from Daniel is for sure the more comfortable way to get help in any situation.

Just give them a call, probably way easier for them to help you out that way, they are professional tech support after all smile

This is misleading. Clicking on an output channel does not "activate" anything. Please refrain from posting inaccurate info here, thanks.
