Topic: Phantom power problems with the Babyface pro FS.

Hi Gang:

I am using an SM7B mic with a Phethead preamp on my Babyface Pro Fs.  When I turn on phantom power, I get absolutely no signal. If I turn off phantom power and take out the Fethead, I do get signal.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

Why would you turn on phantom power here? Neither device needs it, I'd think... What kind of preamp is this?

I see... Then I'd suggest testing with another mic input that supplies 48V....

... also test a mic that does need 48V with the BF Pro....

Re: Phantom power problems with the Babyface pro FS.

I had the same problem (with a Thomann FetAmp but I'd guess they are essentially the same).
I always tried Babyface -> FetAmp -> cable -> sm7b and Thomann support asked me to try Babyface -> cable -> FetAmp -> cable -> sm7b. And it worked. I also tried Babyface -> cable -> FetAmp -> sm7b and it also works.

So at least in my case, the problem seems to be that the FetAmp and Babyface do not like each other (no idea who/what is causing it) but as long as they are not directly connected, it works. Would be interesting to hear from RME is anything on their end could be causing it.
Hope this helps smile
