Topic: using headphones to monitor outputs 1-2.

Hi Gang:

I am trying to understand how to monitor outputs 1-2 through my headphones.  As it stands right now, I have to adjust outputs 1-4 in order to hear through my headphones.  Is it possible to turn outputs 3-4 completely down and receive all audio through my headphones from outputs 1-2? I've tried the phones options in the Assign menu but, no joy.

Thanks all over the place.

Hi Jim,

Could you be more specific? The rows in the TotalMix FX are:

Top - hardware input
Middle - software output
Bottom - hardware output

What exactly do you want to route to the Phones out (AN 3/4)?

Re: using headphones to monitor outputs 1-2.

Hey Jeff:

Thanks all over the place for your post.

Actually, it might be better if I explain what I am trying to do.

I am mixing my microphone with backing tracks and streaming the audio. It's critical that I hear in my headphones exactly what is being streamed.

Thanks.

Re: using headphones to monitor outputs 1-2.

If all you need is to hear the same mix, you could just replicate the same top and middle row settings for outputs 3/4 as you set up for outputs 1/2.  That should make the mix identical, and give you the ability to adjust the headphone volume without lowering the level that you’re sending to the streaming app.

If you also need to hear audio from the stream (like hearing other people on a Zoom call), then the Loopback feature is necessary.

Re: using headphones to monitor outputs 1-2.

Hello Gang:

Sorry for such a basic question but, I am trying to monitor exactly what I am hearing in my XLR outputs through my headphones as well as one would do in a basic mixer.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

Thanks.

Totalmix FX has a feature that would seem to suit your needs perfectly. You can make any output channel a "mirror" of the Main Output. Then the new (Phones) output always has an exact copy of the Main Out, even when you change routings in TotalMix FX.

Just right-click the fader on the output and select "Copy/Mirror" from the pop-up context menu. Now go to the Phones Out channel and right click. In this context menu, select "Mirror of Main Out".
