Topic: Fireface 800 - ADAT2 intermittent flashing / audio output glitching

Hi all,

Recently the ADAT2 light on my Fireface 800 started to flash intermittently and sometimes cause audio output problems. I'm running the device with a Macbook Pro (Mojave 10.14) via Firewire 400. Only a 1/4" stereo pair input is connected in the rear, nothing else currently.

When the ADAT2 light begins to flash, audio playback is interrupted with a glitching-type noise. This happens if the Clock Mode is set to AutoSync. Here's an example (you may have to switch to HD video):

If Clock Mode is set to Master, no glitching occurs when the ADAT2 light starts flashing. As far as I can tell, the unit has to be on for some time before the issue starts to happen.

Also, the power supply was recapped and repaired in September 2020. If anyone has any insight as to what might be happening or a possible solution, please let me know.

Thanks so much!
Sachin

I would try out changing the SPDIF In to Coaxial instead ADAT2.
As you say there is nothing connected to the interface, no adat, no digital, i see no reason why not to set the clock to Master.
Otherwise I would say, conntact the RME support directly.
