Topic: Totalmix and Fireface UC

Hello,

I have a Fireface UC and a microphone Avantone CV12.
The microphone have an ampli and this ampli is link to the entry 1 of the Fireface (with XLR).

I have a pair of focals, linked to the back of the Fireface, in 3 and 4, with jack.
And finally, I have Headphones, DT770 pro, sometimes link in the headphone entry of the fireface.

I took fotos of my configuration.
I passed the entire day trying  to record my voice.
There is a big latence. 1 second between the time I sing and the time it appears on the record. I don't understand why. My latence is low, in the DAW configuration.
And worst, the sound is horrible !! the crackling is louder than my voice !

But the micro is ok ! When I here it on totalmix in the headphones, it's perfect. I really don't understand.
Please, Help me to find the problem.

How could I configure Totalmix, and Ableton?
How to change between headphones and the speakers?

Thanks you (and sorry for the bad english)

Re: Totalmix and Fireface UC

There is nothing wrong with the latency, different DAWs have different ways to show the recording waveform on the screen.
Reaper for example does a stepwise annoying recording-show, the wave appears in blocks and not fluid in realtime, this is normal.
I don't know how Ableton handle that but it seems to be the case you don't like it.
Important is only that you can hear yourself in the headphone without latency.

The big problem is crackeling noise.
Can you provide a soundfile example ?

Here, you can hear. I can't sing strong, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure it isn't normal.
On my macbook, I don't have this problem.
It's juste on the pc.
Ableton is specialised on live.
Or, in my problem (with or without headphones), if I clap my hands in rythm. The result will be totally shifted, when I will listen to it !
It is very problematic.

I think it's about the configuration of totalmix, or configuration of ableton. Or the outputs I selected on my computer...
I really don't success to find a solution.

Another "song" with other configuration...

Re: Totalmix and Fireface UC

The first file is not accessable,
the second file has some heartbeats and kind of noise.
Is there a noise gate involved ?
Hard to say anything from this. I have nothing to compare and no idea what it should sound like.

I try again the first one.
I don't know what is a noise gate involved, sorry.
Is it normal that the name of the Fireface UC's driver is   "MME/DirectX"  ?

Re: Totalmix and Fireface UC

Now I can hear the crackeling, it is terrible and it is not normal.
This driver MME/DirectX can you change it ?
Is it possible to select another one, RME-name ?

Re: Totalmix and Fireface UC

Yes I agree !
There is a ASIO one !
I tried and it is muuuuuuch better ! Thank you for your help

How could I configure the Totalmix interface to do sometimes with headphones, and sometimes with speaker?

Re: Totalmix and Fireface UC

In Totalmix there is a button ASSIGN,
Right side at the bottom, there you can assign the Main out B (speaker B) to headphones and speaker A (Mainout) to the analog out.
Switching between A and B can be done via button Speaker B
