Ok so my fireface 400 is getting old but it still sounds nice, however it’s developed a very weird quirk .. if I adjust any of the channel input or output volumes on the unit itself, instead of adjusting the volume it pans the channel instead! It means I can’t adjust the volume of the channel or headphone outputs volume from the unit.
Any idea what might have occurred?

I don't know what it could be, but if I were in your place, I would try to reload the latest available firmware and see if it gets back to working properly.
The unit is set to Mono or Stereo control. Use the other setting and it will work.
Hi Matthias please could you expand on your solution. I don’t remember changing any mono to stereo settings. Where would I find this setting? Thanks
Select an output channel and hold the encoder button pressed. It changes from On to Off and vice versa. Scrolling through the channels you will see that in stereo mode (matching TotalMix FX) every second channel is skipped.
