Topic: Repairs in Sweden FireFace400

Hi!

I own an old FF400 that has served me well for countless recordings. The power socket has given in and it can now only be powered through BUS.

I bought a new, more modern interface, but would like to keep the FF400 and use it thorgh ADAT to acess the preamps and connect it with external preamps.

Who do I turn to in order to get the socket replaced?

/ Anders

Don't you have Sunday ?
If you can't reach them the official RME support contact would be a good option too :
support@rme-audio.com

Re: Repairs in Sweden FireFace400

Topic almost solved! Today I handed over my FF400 unit to Benum for them to make a repair. It turned out that my FF400 (that has done hundreds recording and mixingsessions possible over the last 14 years) was not broken.

But the powersupply was! The repair-guy told me that there are lots of power-supplies that will work with FF400. But how do I find them? Its says on the broken power-supply:

Output: 12V, 2.0 A

I am totally uneducated in these things. What should I look for?

Re: Repairs in Sweden FireFace400

I would take this one :
https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/ph … er=4867603

Minimum should be DC 12V, 24W

Re: Repairs in Sweden FireFace400

I found a dealer in Sweden:

https://www.kjell.com/se/produkter/el-v … 0-w-p44893

The transformer in the link above is 12V and 1600ma

In the RME FF400 manual it says this:
Current at 12 Volt operating voltage: 910 mA (11 Watts)

It should be ok, right? As long as the Ampere the transformer provides isn't less than what the unit demands?

Yes sounds good. I was looking a photo of the units backside where next to the power socket I can read
12 Watt, 8 - 18 V DC, center Pin +
The user manual may be a bit different.
i would follow the user manual.
If your power supply from the online store does not work you probably can send it back.

Did you link wrong? That one has AC as output, not DC! And I don't understand how you would connect it, you need cables and a correct plug.

I would recommend something like this:
https://cdon.se/hemelektronik/logilink- … -p47838851

I don't guarantee that it will work but any "universal" 12V DC adapter with at least 2A should work (usually they include a corresponding plug), and just make sure you use correct polarity.

Edit: Found this one too: https://www.thomann.de/se/rme_cardbus_netzteil.htm (without mains cable though)

Re: Repairs in Sweden FireFace400

Hej Crille! Thank you so much for the reply and the links! The RME FF400 takes 8-28Vdc and 8-20Vac according to the sign at the power connection on the unit. You buy the cable and plug from Kjell and put it together easilly.

But the Thomann option you sent me seems like the safest choice! I think I'll go with that! I have mains cables lying around. I assume anyone that fits the socket of the Thomann power supply would do?

Re: Repairs in Sweden FireFace400

Inga problem!
