I'm trying to connect a device to my ufx II through the aes/ebu connectors on the ufx, but the device (kemper profiler stage) only has spdif coax.

I bought a hosa aex/ebu to spdif converter-box and it works fine (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail … sa-cdl-313), but I just checked the ufx manual and it looks like I could have just bought two coax to xlr adapters. A much less expensive solution.

I'm hoping someone can answer the following two questions:

1) is there any reason I would be better off with the powered hosa converter-box that I bought over simple coax to xlr adapters?
2) would these coax to xlr adapters work, they are described as "Pin 2 HOT; Pin 1 &3 are tied together":
