Topic: female 9-pin connector for the digital breakout cable

Hi everyone,

I am using all of the available inputs on my Adi2 Pro from 2017 (2016?) at the moment, it really fits wonderfully at the heart of my hifi system. This means that I am also using the breakout cable I got in the box to listen to TV through the Coax In, and to the music coming from my streamer through AES/EBU.

However I would like to remove as many connectors as possible in the chain from my renderer hardware (and TV) to the 9-pin female connector at the back of the RME, and was wondering whether somebody had tried this.

I would like to connect both my devices, coax and AES into the female connector but has anybody got a diagram of it so that I know which wire to insert into which hole?
I have two wires for coax and two for AES, no ground.

Thanks a lot!

Re: female 9-pin connector for the digital breakout cable

Had a look at chapter 33.7 of the manual?

Pin Name
1 GND
2 SPDIF Out +
3 SPDIF In +
4 AES Out +
5 AES In +
6 SPDIF Out -
7 SPDIF In -
8 AES Out -
9 AES In -

If you actually are thinking about "inserting wires into holes" however, I'd recommend to stick to the breakout cable, which won't make any technical difference for the signal quality.

Kind regards,
Jan

Oops I'm sorry, yet another chapter that I understand now! Thanks a lot!
