Topic: Volume Issues with recording Guitar and Bass On Babyface

I have a Babyface Pro and setting the volume is very simple with microphones, however when I plug an instrument in directly (bass or guitar generally in my case) it is nearly impossible to set it at a volume where it doesn't record at a peak wavelength. Help!!!!

No difference between microphone or instrument regarding this.
Lower the gain if your signal is peaking or lower the volume on the instrument.

Yeah that's what I've done. I'm also running through a pre amp and would like to be able to gain the pre a little but even when the volume is down all the way on the interface and almost all the way down on the pre it still peaks like crazy!!

You have connected to the Babyfaces input socket on the side, yes ?

When coming from a preamp your signal is not an instrument level it is line level.
Did you activated the Instrument button in the input channel in Totalmix ? Click on it, deactivate it.
If you connect to the XLR input then the input gain must be full down closed.
