Topic: Babyface (old version) problem - no signal from input2

Hi.

I have my mixer output(xlr) connect to my babyface input (xlr). The input1 (left) is fine. However, the input2 (right) is not.

1. There is barely a signal on input2 when I boost my mixer mainout.

2. When I disconnect the Input1 but leave the input2 connected with my mixer, there is no signal AT ALL.

3. I checked the xlr cable I am using, trying to switch around. They work fine.

4. I happen to have another break out cable  that have RCA In/out. So I did try connected my Babyface with my mixer through RCA. The result is the same, so I think the breakout cable is not the issue.

5. The instrument input works fine.

6. I think it is either the config of TotalMix FX, or the inside hardware problem in the babyface. Here is the photo of my TotalMix FX.

My set up is a laptop with this spec.

Windows 10
CPU: Intel I5
Ram 8GB
My Babyface driver is updated to the lastest version (5/2021)

I would be glad if any of you could help me. Hopefully, it is just a software misadjustment.

Re: Babyface (old version) problem - no signal from input2

Can you do a test ? Switching the signals from the mixer , mixer out 1 into Babyface AN2 instead of AN1 and mixer out 2 into Babyface AN1 instead of AN2.
Just sorting out the mixer may have only signal on one side.
The Totalmix settings looks good.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Toggle the Inst button. Otherwise your BF breakout cable might be defective.

Thank you for your reply.
I did. The result is the same. AN2 no sound or signal.
I really have no idea what to do now.

Thank you for replying.

I did toggle the Inst button. Nothing change. AN2 still no sound!

Like I said, I have another breakout cables with  RCA connectivities. I did try with my mixer using RCA, the result is the same... meaning AN2 no sound. So I don't think it is a breakout cable, unless both of them have the same problem at the same spot at the same time, which is pretty unlikely...

Yep. Then the analog input stage of XLR must be defecvtive.
